< TEXTSWITCHER v1.1.1SETUP WIZARD :: READY

[ GUIDE / SETUP ]

> Getting started

Install TextSwitcher in minutes and never retype a word because of the wrong keyboard layout again. This guide covers macOS installation, permissions, Chrome support, and your first test.

STEP 01

> Download the DMG

Click the Download for macOS button on the homepage to get the latest TextSwitcher 1.1.1 DMG. The file is served directly from our CDN, so it lands in your Downloads folder immediately.

STEP 02

> Open the DMG and move the app to Applications

Double-click the downloaded DMG, then drag the TextSwitcher icon into your Applications folder. This is the standard way to install third-party apps on macOS.

STEP 03

> Launch TextSwitcher

Open TextSwitcher from Applications. On the first launch, macOS may warn you that the app was downloaded from the internet. Click Open to proceed.

STEP 04

> Grant Accessibility permissions

TextSwitcher needs Accessibility access to read the word you are typing and replace it with the corrected text. When macOS asks, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility, unlock the pane, and check TextSwitcher. If it is already listed, make sure the toggle is on.

STEP 05

> Enable Chrome support (v1.1.1+)

If you want TextSwitcher to work inside Google Chrome, open TextSwitcher's settings and enable the Chrome helper. This lets the app correct text in browser forms, search boxes, and online documents. Native Mac apps work without this extra step.

STEP 06

> Test the correction

Open any text field, switch to the wrong layout on purpose, and type ghbdtn followed by a space. TextSwitcher should replace it with привет and activate the intended layout automatically.

> Quick tips

  • Correction triggers after a space, punctuation mark, or line break.
  • The app works best when only one or two words are mistyped in a row.
  • If you prefer to disable Chrome support later, toggle it off in the app settings.
  • Keep the app running in the background; it has no menu-bar clutter and minimal CPU use.

[ REQUIREMENTS ]

  • macOS macOS 14 or later
  • Administrator access to grant Accessibility permissions
  • Google Chrome support requires TextSwitcher 1.1.1 or newer
